For example you can find activities that work on skills such as rhyming, initial sounds, letter recognition, sight words, sentence structure and meaning, etc. There are multiple activities for each category ready to be printed and implemented in your classroom!

This site offers a wide variety of teaching tools, ideas, and strategies for educators. Many of the resources are available for purchase, however there are several free resources also available. You can find literacy or math center ideas, comprehension activities, craft ideas, and much more. This site does not lock you into paying a subscription, but rather you choose to purchase what you are interested in.

On this site you will find extensive reading resources and assessment tools. You will have access to several leveled books all based on the common core standards. There are reading lessons, decodable books (you can print), reader’s theater scripts, graphic organizers, fluency passages, and much more. This site does require a membership, but several schools are members, so ask your school to join!

Use this site as a resource for students to look up information on various topics. This site has many facts and reliable information on a wide variety of subjects. It can also be interactive as it there are games and puzzles that challenge students to apply what they are learning!

PBS Kids is a great place to send young students to learn and play interactive games. Activities reinforce concepts such as letter identification, initial sounds, rhyming, blending, and math skills. There are several games that are not necessarily educational, but you will find an entire section of educational games kids can play on this site.

The purpose of this site is to teach children to read using phonics in a systematic way. This site helps students develop pre-reading skills such as letter identification, sound/ symbol correspondence as well as strengthens them as readers. The site provides decodable stories and activities that work on specific phonics skills or word patterns. Follow along with an interactive text and illustrations that help develop phonological awareness, fluency, and vocabulary!

This website provides practices for numerous math concepts within each grade level K-8, and also includes algebra and geometry. Activities are based on common core standards and the website provides reports based on student performance to show where the strengths and weakness lie for individual students. Teachers can work with students to set goals and can easily monitor progress through this site. It does require a membership and you can pay monthly or by the year. It seems well worth it!

Discovery Kids is a site full of games, puzzles, facts, and quizzes related to a wide range of science topics. The “tell me” section can be used as a source of information for elementary students researching a science topic. In the “Myth-busters” lab, students can read about common myths related to everyday life and learn the truth surrounding them. Students can also search a particular subject and see what information there is on Discovery Kids, or get an idea for a fun science experiment.

Scholastic is a well known company with an expansive site that is not just intended to sell literature. On the scholastic website, you can find teacher lesson plans, strategies and ideas such as readers theater, guided reading. etc.. You can also find teacher to teacher blogs, student interactive activities, a list of new and noteworthy literature, Lexile scores for thousands of books, and ways to push students to higher levels of thinking. You could spend hours on this site finding new ways to improve instruction.

Quizlet is a memorization tool that can be used by a wide range of students studying various topics. There are several modes to study terms: speller, flash cards, learn, test, scatter, space race, and voiced space race. There are many topics on the site already that you can study from, or you can create your own. Quizlet provides and different a fun way to study. Another unique feature of the site is that you can see on a map where people are using quizlet across the globe and what they are studying.
